As a regular player revisiting Honkai: Star Rail in 2026, I have spent a lot of time testing Topaz and Numby after their version 1.4 debut. Topaz is a 5-star Fire character who follows the Path of the Hunt, and she arrived alongside Jingliu. What makes her stand out from other Hunt units is that Numby, her Warp Trotter companion, delivers follow-up attacks that form the core of her damage. Topaz also applies debuffs that make enemies take more damage from her attacks. Once you finish her Ascension, building her is very similar to other DPS characters, but the right Light Cones, Relics, and team choices can make a huge difference.

Best Light Cones For Topaz & Numby

In my experience, Worrisome, Blissful is still the signature 5-star Light Cone that fits Topaz and Numby perfectly. At level 80 it provides 582 ATK, and its superimposition ability called One At A Time increases CRIT Rate by 18 percent and follow-up attack DMG by 30 percent. After Topaz or Numby uses a follow-up attack, the Light Cone applies Tame to the target for up to two stacks. Each Tame stack increases the CRIT DMG that enemy receives by 12 percent. This combination of CRIT Rate, follow-up damage, and CRIT DMG makes it the best option for her kit.

If you do not have Worrisome, Blissful, a solid 5-star substitute is Sleep Like the Dead. It increases CRIT DMG by 32 percent, and if her Basic ATK or Skill does not land a CRIT Hit, it boosts her CRIT Rate by 40 percent for one turn. This effect can trigger once every three turns. It is a more generic Hunt Light Cone, but it works well because Topaz wants CRIT reliability.

For free-to-play players, Cruising in the Stellar Sea is my go-to recommendation. It is available from Herta's Store and increases CRIT Rate by 8 percent. Against enemies with 50 percent HP or less, it grants an extra 8 percent CRIT Rate, and when Topaz defeats an enemy, her ATK increases by 20 percent for three turns. This is an excellent F2P option while you save resources.

There are also several 4-star alternatives. Return to Darkness is a good CRIT-focused pick, while Swordplay and Only Silence Remains can boost her damage against enemies. The main rule is to choose a Light Cone that enhances her ATK or CRIT strengths as a main DPS.

Best Relics, Ornaments, & Stats For Topaz & Numby

The best Relic set for Topaz and Numby is Firesmith of Lava-Forging. Its two-piece bonus increases Fire DMG by 10 percent, which matches Topaz's element. With all four pieces equipped, it increases her Skill DMG by 12 percent. After she uses her Ultimate, her Fire DMG is boosted by an extra 12 percent for the next attack. If you are still farming this set, you can temporarily use Musketeer of Wild Wheat while gathering better pieces.

For Ornaments, I recommend Inert Salsotto. It increases CRIT Rate by 8 percent. When Topaz's overall CRIT Rate reaches 50 percent or higher, her Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increase by 15 percent. Since Numby follow-ups and her Ultimate are the main sources of damage, this set is nearly impossible to beat. Celestial Differentiator and Space Sealing Station can be used as substitutes, but they do not offer the same follow-up damage boost.

When farming Relics and Ornaments, prioritize ATK, a balanced CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate distribution, and Fire DMG. Secondary stats should include SPD and Energy Recharge Rate. From my testing, her boots main stat should be ATK percent rather than SPD, because Topaz benefits more from raw offensive power even if she acts a little later in the turn order.

Best Team Comps For Topaz & Numby

Topaz is fairly self-sufficient, so her teammates mostly provide buffs and protection instead of enabling her as a DPS. One of the best setups is a hypercarry team with Topaz as the main damage dealer, two supports, and a healer. Yukong is my favorite support for her because Yukong can provide strong CRIT and ATK buffs. Asta is also excellent because she can boost SPD and Fire DMG. Tingyun and Bronya are great alternatives if you want more ATK or turn manipulation.

You can also run a traditional team comp with a sub-DPS replacing the second support, and use a shielder such as Fu Xuan instead of a healer. This can help Topaz survive longer while maintaining her follow-up attack pressure.

Since Topaz's main damage comes from Numby follow-up attacks, her Talent should be leveled first. After that, prioritize her Ultimate, then her Skill, and finally her Basic Attack.

Even with random Relic stats, building Topaz is not too difficult because she has many Light Cone options and can operate without a highly specialized team. In 2026, I still find her to be one of the more flexible Hunt characters for regular play.
